Character: Citrusy, Dry, Light.
The citrus character. It comes from both the Cascade hops and the Voss yeast.
About this batch
This was deliberately designed as a simple first beer. The intention was to make something relatively light, refreshing, and quenchable while establishing a clear baseline for future experiments.
Using one base malt and one hop made it easier to understand the result and gave later beers something meaningful to iterate on. This beer is the starting point rather than a final statement.

Brew log
| Stage | Record |
|---|---|
| Mash | 60 minutes at approximately 62–66°C. Temperature stratification left the mash roughly in the mid-60s overall. |
| Rinse | About 4 L of water at approximately 75°C, giving a pre-boil volume of about 12 L. |
| Boil | 60 minutes. Cascade went in at 60 minutes and 15 minutes before the end of the boil. |
| Cool | The wort was cooled in a sink of cold water over approximately 1.5 hours.
|
| Ferment | Voss Kveik was dry pitched at approximately 25°C. Fermentation ran mostly around 22–23°C for roughly 11 days. |
| Package | Bottled on 26 August 2026. The batch finished at approximately 4.6% ABV. |
Notes
- The original gravity was approximately 1.050 before dilution, with about 8.5–9 L in the fermenter.
- Apparent attenuation was approximately 81%.
- Keeping the formulation narrow makes this a useful baseline for future batches.
